5th Annual Dovecourt Open

We are proud to have decided to run the 5th Annual Dovercourt Open. All races will be held on Roosevelt same as every year. We are not racing Byron (Headwind Hill) this year. This year we are running a One Day - TWO Race Event. Hybrid or Special Slalom in the morning then a Tight Slalom race in the afternoon.

Tentative schedule:

8:00 AM Late registration
8:15 AM Junior Practice (kids)
8:30 AM Junior hybrid Slalom
9:00 AM Open Practice
10:00 AM Qualifying – 1 run each lane
11:00 or sooner Hybrid Eliminations

There will be the food service from the Canteen again this year. They will have the BBQ going between 11:00 AM and approximately 2:00 PM – TBD exact schedule we have asked them to have Vegan food as well as regular Hot dogs and Burgers. You can expect reasonable prices.

12:15 – Lunch break – Course Re-set
12:45 – Junior Practice (kids)
1:00 PM Junior Tight Slalom
1:30 PM Open Practice
2:30 PM Open Qualifying
3:30 PM Open Eliminations

Awards Ceremony in Dovercourt Recreation Centre

We will determine over the next little while whether or not we will keep the event as the Canadian National Slalom Championships as well.

We will run the regular qualifying then break it into an A,B,C format. We do plan to have a Junior Division as well.

We are also planning to keep the entry fees low so you can expect a small cash payout for the Top 3 A group racers.

We will not be providing food or water at this years event as to keep operating costs down. The Dovercourt Community (the street residents where we race) are very excited that we are again running the event.

MB & I are also getting excited to be your hosts again. We understand that we will lose racers at this years due to the one day event in the middle of the week. Unfortunately it was the only way.

For those who do plan on attending try to come into town early. We have floor space at home for the early arrivals We will likely have the same accommodation deal with the conference center. We will be able to go out and run cones at a few locations over the weekend if you come in early.

We have a few nice spots and one that allows some GS, Hybrid or tough tight.

Alors, c'est quoi vos plans pour le Dovercourt 2008?

Je pense y aller lundi pour :
- skater le Legacy
- faire le GS outlaw
- skater le Legacy

Et mardi pour la course officielle, HS et TS.

Je prévoit faire dodo au convention center à coté du Legacy.

Comment sa fonctionne ? Ya des gens qui y vont? Genre le lundi/mardi? Ou que le mardi? Faite moi savoir, j'embarque!

J'ai réussi à me faire remplacer mais je bosse la veille jusqu'à 3H00 du mat donc je pars dans la matinée du mardi, I don't want that

Dan, Julie, Louis, et moi devrions partir le dimanche matin pour skater le Legacy le dimanche soir. Lundi, y est supposé avoir un GS outlaw à un nouveau spot et mardi c'est le hybrid et tight.

On va coucher au Convention Center près du Legacy car c'est là qu'on a un rabais d'après les instructions sur la page d'inscription. Mais on a pas encore fait de réservation...

Si je me rappele bien, y avait des bonnes chances pour que Rick vienne aussi.

C'est les nouvelles jusqu'à date...

I marked out two courses and hopefully the rain won't or hasn't washed them away, EH! Hybrid will be loose and make you move Smile

The tight is not that tight. Probably similar to last years course.

We are looking forward to hosting you all again. We just finished a great weak of sk8camp.
